On-Call Non-Burnable Curbside Collection 2007-2008
Dear Resident:
For many years, New Britain has struggled to find a solution to the issue of trash pickup for non-burnable items such as appliances. The week of pick-ups has become a costly eyesore and health hazard that is an annual frustration for city residents.
I am pleased to announce the City is initiating a new On-Call Non-Burnable program that will provide this service in a more efficient, more convenient and more cost-effective manner.
Each 1-6 family dwelling will receive one free annual pick-up per year for up to 5 items per unit. Keep in mind that large burnable items should be placed with your regular weekly pickup. The new non-burnable program is as easy as picking up the phone and scheduling an appointment at your convenience. The day before your appointment, you place your items on the curb (see the list of acceptable items inside). Additional pickups during the year will be on a fee basis per item. It's simple, and does not leave a week-long mess on our city streets.
I am confident that the On-Call Non-Burnable program will provide a better alternative to meet your non-burnable disposal needs. Thank you for your support and cooperation as we begin this new service to New Britain residents.
- Mayor Timothy Stewart
