Welcome to the New Britain Parks &
Recreation Web Page. New Britain, known as "Hardware City",
is a municipality in the State of Connecticut. New Britain
has a population of 76,000+ and is located fifteen minutes
from the Capitol City of Hartford. The purpose of this page
is to introduce the department and its services to those
residents of New Britain, Connecticut, as well as people
across the United States.
Walnut
Hill Park Rose Planting Day April 10th 9:00 AM World War I Monument
Mayor
Timothy T. Stewart, Parks and Recreation Chairman Jamie
Giantonio, Vice Chairman Paul A. Shaker Sr. and Friends of
the Walnut Hill Park Rose Garden announced today that
volunteers are needed for a Planting Day that has been
scheduled for April 10th at 9:00 AM at the World
War I Monument on top of
Walnut
Hill Park.
The Planting Day will be the beginning of a
revitalization project for the old rose garden that once
blossomed at Walnut
Hill
Park for more then half a
century.

applications for lifeguards, parking/concessions, and camp
positions for the 2010 Summer. New employees are
encouraged to apply and sign up for a written test before
the March 20th deadline. APPLY TODAY!

Parks &
Rec offers IPod walking tour of Walnut Hill Park!
The Parks and Recreation Department
will be offering its first ever walking tour of Walnut Hill
Park. "A walk through Walnut Hill Park," created by CCSU
students Amy Kirby and Aileen Bastos, is a fifteen minute
video describing the history of the Frederick Law Olmsted
designed masterpiece. The tour starts with the walking path
on North Main Street, going up to the World War I monument,
then down to Ledgers Way and around the one mile loop.

New Britain Parks & Recreation
Department recognizes donors
Mayor Timothy T. Stewart and
Commission Chairman Richard Lorch announced today that the
New Britain Parks and Recreation Department has to date
received several generous donations that will go to help
finance the complete renovation of the Don Davis tennis
courts at Walnut Hill Park. Dr. Bruce Fletcher, Peter
Vieira, Wade Vianney, Linda Discotto, Norman Holland,
Wojciech Junger, Don Lukowski, Grako Insurance, Ronald
Parker, Christine Atkinson, and Quisinberry & Archari LLC
are the first individuals/organizations to lend their
support to the New Britain community and graciously donate
money to a project that will revitalize the nearly one
hundred year old facility.
Piano and Voice Lessons
New Britain Parks and Recreation
Department is accepting registrations for the fall, winter,
and spring sessions for Piano and Voice Lessons. Lessons are
held in City Hall Room 210. Enrollment is limited. Fee of
