15th Annual Great American Boom News Release:
Mayor Timothy T. Stewart, Commission Chairman Richard Lorch and Vice-Chairman Paul Shaker Sr. announced today that the New Britain Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the 15th Annual Great American Boom at Stanley Quarter Park on Saturday, July 4, 2009 (rain date: July 5). This giant 4th of July celebration begins at 5:00 p.m., with a concert by Souled Out and culminates with a spectacular fireworks display at approximately 9:15 p.m.
The Recreation Department will have the entire fleet of attractions and inflatables set up for the public?s enjoyment. The fleet consists of the Extreme Combo Wall, High Striker, several different carnival games, Climbing Wall, sand art station, Moon Bounce and video buttons. A live animal petting zoo, including llamas, sheep, cattle and more will also be there for the entire family?s enjoyment. A $5.00 wristband will need to be purchased. There will also be a family 4 pack for $15.00, which will allow for unlimited access to all the Terrific Toys and the petting zoo from 5:00 ? 8:30 pm. Clowns will be roaming the park performing magic and balloon animals as well as a caricatures station by an artist. There will also be an opportunity to purchase 3-D glasses for $2.00, which enhances an already magnificent fireworks display. Bill DeMaio, Director of Parks and Recreation, feels that ?this is a great opportunity to have a picnic in the park, and enjoy a pre-fireworks concert. Several food vendors will be set up to serve dinner in the park as concessions will be available for purchase.
Parking will be made available at Central Connecticut State University. Handicapped parking is available at Stanley Quarter Park through Eddy Glover Boulevard entrance only. Be sure to arrive early and bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and bug spray to sit down and enjoy the firework show.
