Access & Issuance of Birth Records - Less than 100 years old
Anyone requesting a copy of a full disclosable record as allowed by law of a birth, death, marriage or fetal death, either in person or by mail, or access to, or permission to examine shall provide documentation proving that such person is entitled to the record.
Individuals entitled to a birth or fetal death record less than 100 years old:
- The person whose birth is recorded (if person is 18 or older), parent or legal representative of such person, guardian, spouse, grandparent, child for parent or grandparent if over 18 years old.
- The person whose birth is recorded if 16 years or older (Wallet Size only), as well as parent, legal representative, guardian, spouse, grandparent or child for parent or grandparent if over 18 years old.
- Attorneys and title examiners representing the person or such person's parent, guardian, child or surviving spouse;
- Persons authorized by court order;
- Mayor or his authorized agent
- Local director of health
- Members of Genealogical Societies Incorporated in Connecticut or authorized by the state.
Access & Issuance of Birth Records - More than 100 years old
Any person if 18 years or older is entitled.
